Becky Calzada

Becky Calzada, the Library Services Coordinator in Leander Independent School District, near Austin, Texas,  strives to continuously improve, build relationships, and support the teachers, librarians and administrators in her district while learning about library and furniture design, technology integration, literacy best practices and leadership. On Twitter and Facebook’s Future Ready Librarians Group she offers sage wisdom to librarians. Becky provides staff development in her district and has presented at the Texas ASCD conference, TCEA Librarian’s Academy, TASLA & TLA. She is a co-moderator of #TXLCHAT, and is the Past Chair of the Texas Association of School Librarians. She has also been a contributor to tasltalks.blogspot.com. She’s been an educator for 30 years, and uses her voice to advocate for the librarians in her district and state. She has advocated at the state level for librarians by appearing at our state capital to speak on behalf of the TASL.

Carolyn Foote

Carolyn Foote, high school librarian at West Lake High School and district librarian in Eanes Independent School District in Texas, is a true leader and advocate among school librarians. She is deserving of recognition in both the leadership and advocacy categories. Her posts in her blog, “A Not So Distant Future,” are always thoughtful and inspire her readers to make positive changes. She is active in sharing on Twitter (@technolibrary). She has contributed as a blogger to the Huffington Post’s education page, advocating for school libraries in her articles. She was recognized as a White House Champion of Change 2013, is a current Lilead Fellow, serves on the ALA Center for the Future of Libraries Advisory Board, and is a regular conference presenter and author of journal articles. Shannon McClintock Miller, Future Ready Librarian Spokesperson, teacher librarian, speaker, consultant, and author – is a true leader in the field. At national and international presentations, Shannon demonstrates leadership not only among her peers, but also to administrators, community members, and corporations. Her global connections and desire to share information among school librarians are displayed through posts to multiple platforms.  Shannon leads by example with her posts on the Future Ready Librarians Facebook Group, which she manages. She encourages connections among school librarians by facilitating conversations on Twitter. Her Instagram posts take followers on virtual learning trips around the world. Her blog, The Library Voice, shares educator tips, book recommendations, professional connections, and technology tips, as well as sharing the accomplishments of other school librarians. Shannon’s leadership doesn’t stop with her social media posts. She encourages sharing and growth among school librarians  and doesn’t hesitate to answer questions and facilitate connections.
