AASL is looking for a dynamic group of school librarians to serve on an editorial board responsible for the evaluation and revision of the association’s learning standards and program guidelines. Members of all facets and levels of the profession are invited to apply, ensuring the voices of all school librarians are reflected in the document. The evaluation and revision of AASL’s learning standards and program guidelines is a critically important project to both the association and the profession. The publications provide a vision for teaching and learning which guide the profession as education leaders to transform learning.
Service on the standards and guidelines editorial board is a significant commitment to be considered. The editorial board will officially begin meeting in March 2015 and conclude their work in November 2017. Applicants are asked to submit the following to AASL:
- Cover letter explaining interest in participation and qualities beneficial to service on the editorial board
- Current vita or resume
- 2-3 writing samples (e.g. published pieces, newsletters, blog posts, district reports)
- Letter of support from immediate supervisor. Optional: Up to 2 letters of recommendation.
All required materials compiled into a single document must be received by AASL at aasl@ala.org no later than midnight, Dec. 17, 2014. Applicants for first round interviews will be notified on or before Jan. 16, 2015. First round interviews will be scheduled for Jan. 19–Feb. 6. All candidates will be notified of final selection by March 1.
