By registering before the August 13, 2015, early bird deadline, conference attendees will save $100 on registration rates for the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) 17th National Conference & Exhibition. The conference, themed “Experience Education Evolution,” will be held Nov. 5-8, 2015, in Columbus, Ohio, and is the only national conference dedicated solely to the needs of school librarians and their roles as educational leaders. A full list of rates and deadlines can be found at national.aasl.org/registration.
“What’s in The AASL 2015 Conference for you and your students? AASL 2015 brings together opportunities to explore and experience evolving educational technologies, resources and concepts,” said Deb Logoan, conference co-chair. “Whether you are looking at makerspaces, flipped classrooms, blended learning, 1:1, STEM, STEAM, digital content, close reading or other evolving educational topics, you will find innovative and practical thinking and information at national conference. Don’t miss this transformative experience!”
Scheduled programming for the 2015 conference includes opening general session speaker Heidi Hayes Jacobs, an internationally recognized expert in the fields of curriculum and instruction, and closing general session speaker Eszter Hargittai, whose research focuses on the social and policy implications of digital media. Other events include half- and full-day preconferences; multiple author events with more than 100 authors in attendance, new daily general sessions including an author keynote and administrator panel; a school library research symposium; and exhibits filled with the latest resources and technologies for the school library program. New this year, each school librarian registration is eligible to add on a complimentary administrator registration.
“Sometimes it’s hard to convey in words just how powerful an impact your school library program could have on teaching and learning when its supported by administration,” explains co-chair Kathy Lowe. “Have you ever thought, if you could just show them the possibilities then maybe they’d buy into your vision? AASL’s free administrator registration is your chance. What better way to involve administrators than to give them the opportunity to learn along with you about all that your school library program can be?”
More information on conference programming is available on the AASL 17th National Conference & Exhibition website located at national.aasl.org. Those communicating about the national conference are encouraged to use the official hashtag, #aasl15.
