Did you take a look at the award-winning books announced by the American Library Association this week? I was excited to find my favorite picture books on the list. Some of the books are perfect for designing lessons around the AASL Standards Framework for Learners.
Would you like to join me in developing a lesson plan based on one of the award-winning picture books? Starting next week, I’m facilitating a 4-week AASL eCourse that runs from February 1 to February 28.
In this AASL eCourse, you’ll learn how to:
-
- find a compelling picture book that makes readers notice and wonder about the world around them
- name an AASL Standard and classroom standard to support working with the picture book
- write an objective and a lesson
- create a rubric to assess learning
What
During our time together, you will watch tutorials, participate in Zoom discussions, and complete assignments to design an engaging lesson plan that connects with the standards.
When
The course starts February 1st and ends on February 28th. The Zoom meetings will take place Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM Central Standard Time.
