  1. Arizona is one of the few states which cut its professional librarian staff to bare minimum. Most schools have only clerks and most of them are not prepared to work in the library. The main concern is the money, not the students. The conference organizers missed an opportunity to promote the importance of the profession to the local government. I did not see representatives from the local or state government attending the conference or being invited. The press coverage was minimal as well.
